Dogs from 8 months old (including oldies!) can join. Class size is small – up to 8 dogs. Course includes four live (or recorded) online video meetings, plus four in-person classes in Swan View, Western Australia. Total course duration is 5 weeks, as your first online session will be in the week prior to your first class attendance.
The course is run as a “flipped classroom” – attend online via your internet connection, then practice your new set of skills before class each week.
There are three “streams” to choose from:
- Moving Up from Puppy / Tween Courses to the big, wide world;
- Work-in-Progress for shy or reactive issues after working with a trainer privately (you may leave your dog at home and Audit);
- Newbie learning basic training for the first time with an adult dog.
Our focus is on positive reinforcement and fun. The environment is set up so that everyone can succeed, at the level they need to work at.
Our venue is a suburban park in Swan View WA. This area is great for developing your training skills with real-life outdoor distractions, but lots of space. The environment is good to help worried or noisy dogs practice skills that they have already started to develop, to become more calm near others.
Our Better Manners Course is organised so that you learn different training topics each week. You will need to attend the webinar (time TBA) or watch the recording prior to each class. Your practice time at home and on walks will provide the foundation of your practice in class.
Once you have enrolled, you will need to provide some details on your dog and their history and habits. This is to ensure that they they can get the most benefit from classes. We’ll contact you to confirm the details of your first class.
Better Manners classes include four 1 hour webinars / recordings and four in-person group classes, run over 5 weeks. Classes are on Thursday at 4:45pm.
